Giverny is knitted from top to bottom in a 2×2 rib pattern, starting with a provisional stop at the waist. An elastic band is sewn into the knitted waistband before it is closed by removing the provisional cast-on and knitting the live stitches together with the provisional stitches. Cropped rows lift the back of the skirt; Elevations gradually widen the skirt at the hips before slightly diminishing it for a tighter fit. The main body of the skirt is knitted straight before being slit in the middle of the back for comfort and freedom of movement. The hem is finished with an Italian/tubular dart. Sewing a small label or thread on the inside of the skirt will make it easier to see the back when you wear it.
