GERMAN MERINO Light – Tunturi 130g

Tunturi is the Finnish word for the flat, glacial hills in Lapland, in Sweden they are called Fjell. Mosses, lichens, stones and blueberry characterize the surface of the Tunturis. The characteristic colouring of the fjell landscape in summer has been the inspiration for this atmospheric colour.

GERMAN MERINO Light is our original 2-ply knitting yarn. It is airy, light and rustic. Suitable for any project, especially for light, warm sweaters and accessories. For GERMAN MERINO Light – Tunturi we used slightly overweight balls. It may be that the thread is sometimes a little thicker than with conventional German Merino Light, but the yardage should be the same, as the strands are cut to length when reeling. With approx. 340m/120-130g it is a Sport/DK yarn weight. It is advisable to knit a gauge.

The natural merino wool comes from the foothills of the Alps in southern Germany and has also been spun there in a small family-owned spinning mill, and hand-dyed here in Berlin. Thus, from the rearing of the sheep to the dyeing, it has been produced entirely within Germany.
